I'm Karina.

Photography is how I slow down, look a little closer, and explore the places around me. I’m drawn to Tasmania’s wild landscapes, its history, changing light, dark skies, wildlife, and all the small, strange and beautiful things I find along the way.

That connection to Tasmania is where Island Spirit Photography began. For me, it’s about capturing the spirit of this island — not just the postcard views, but the forgotten places, tiny details and unexpected moments that make me stop and look twice.

There’s another meaning behind the name, too. The wings in my logo represent a sense of spirit and connection that has always been part of how I experience the natural world. I’ve often thought of the Aurora Australis as something almost otherworldly — like angels visiting in the night sky.

Island Spirit Photography brings those things together: my love of Tasmania, photography, nature and the feeling that sometimes there’s a little more to a place than what we can see at first glance.
